Thursday june 14th
Starting at approx 7pm will be an evening sailing session at Fairhaven Lake for members and prospective members of B&FMBC
The evening will be about boat prep, race prep etc rather than simply racing
On the last one we helped sort out sail set and followed it with about 30 starts and ended in the local pub for a quick half.
Very good

Note that the Class is now sailing under the new revised Class Rules
not much has changed
You have to revert to the original spec steering arms
UK Sailing Instructions allow you to use a cunningham downhaul and to fit a bow bumper
Cordage is allowed to be as the owner sees fit with a few rules on the way it is fitted
There has been a speed restriction on the sail winch, now clarified to read as full out to full in, reconised as ninety degrees, must be no quicker than 3.9 seconds
The John Tushingham sail is legal for now in the UK, but not abroad unless their SI allow. Note that the D boom is a minimum of17inches, but because the JT D rig was sold complete with a boom, the shorter boom supplied with the sail is also legal for as long as the sail is permitted. The A and B are the same length, the C and D are from now, the same length.

On a slightly wider note, there has been a question regarding the legality of using tell-tails on the leech of the sail. Someone appears to have proved that the tell-tails are counted as additional sail area
This does not concern us, as the sails are supplied c/w tell-tails
However, if you replace tell-tails and use a tape of a greater surface area, or a greater number of tapes, then it is possible that you contravine the ISAF sail measurement rules

National TT series 2012
Dates and more information is now on the National TT page
Note that the Association will be running a Ranking system from the first of the 2012 TT races until qualifing date for the 2013 'World Championship' at Gosport

ND Championship Fleetwood 21st Oct this is now the final 'confirmed' date!

National Championship dates for 2012 confirmed as 22/23 Sept at Castle Semple Loch
SW of Glasgow under the Ayr Bay Model Yacht Club burgee.  A super lake with the Parks Authority very much on our side.
TheScotish clubs have an enviable reputation for their organisational skills, so its going to be good
The evening 'do' will be on site and there is limited space for caravans and camping on a first come first serve basis.  The entry form will become available in early 2012
Access is very easy with motorways almost the whole way, the lake is superb and there is a train station within about a half mile for travel to and from the venue, or  a day trip into Glasgow

Reports are published on line with Yachts and Yachting  www.yachtsandyachting.com

 Association News

The Class Association is, in the normal way of these things, looking for a couple of keen owners who are prepared to act as Committee Members. This is not an onerous position, as there are several keen and organised members already in position who are prepared to continue. Committee Meetings tend to be by phone or at Race Meetings, and it is a good opportunity for someone with a little time and and interest in the Class to put themselves forward. Of course, it also gives us  a chance to promote to the rest of the Laser Family the race systems that have worked so well  for us in the NW

If you would like to talk about it before you commit, please contact either Andy K  (Boat Bits) or Dave Fowler (Racing Sec)
Although there is still a bit of time,it's a good idea to get things moving
