Rocky Bayou Christian School first through eighth graders recently competed in the Florida Association of Christian Colleges and School regional creative writing festival. Students competed in several different categories including poetry, short story, haiku, and essays. RBCS sent 19 entries and came home with 7 superior and 10 excellent ribbons. Seven students’ writings qualified to go on to the state competition. The state qualifiers were Elizabeth Eppright, Emma Widerstrand, Sarah McGuckin, Christa Daughtry, Duncan Foster, Dylan Josey, and Allison Thomas. Feeding a Hungry Around the World
The elementary and Kindergarten students partnered with RICE BOWLS to help feed orphans around the world. RICE BOWLS is a Christian organization the helps to provide food for orphanages. The students collected spare change in "rice bowl" shaped banks. A total of $2,358.83 was collected by the students. We desire to train our students to be the hands and feet of Christ.
Throughout the month of December, Rocky Bayou Christian School Elementary students are collecting canned goods for Sharing and Caring, a non-profit organization in Niceville that helps others in our community. “Cans for Casual Day” offers an extra incentive for students who participate. Every Friday students who bring in canned goods earn the right to a casual dress day. RBCS students wear uniforms on a regular day basis so this canned good drive has been quite a success. 1,599 cans of food were collected and delivered to Sharing and Caring.
