Massive Flood in Pakistan

Flood and heavy rains in Pakistan
Heavy rains and flash flood in the rivers of Pakistan have taken the lives of over four thousands in Northern Province, Province of Balochistan and North Punjab. Millions have lost their houses, livestock and stranded in the flooding areas. Thousands of villages have been submerged in rivers and canals. Air lifting and other operations to get people out of the affected are very slow. There is acute shortage of drinking water, ration, medial aid etc.
The meteorological department has forecasted more rains and flood in the coming week. The disaster has worsened the situation as the roads have been swept away.
 
Muhammad Azeem said, “The government has badly failed to take pre-flood steps to avoid mass level devastation. I have lost my house and livestock”
Shamim Bibi, said, “Two new born babies were died for server rains as there was no shelter and medical aid.  There is no food and water”
Nasim Bibi an elderly woman said, “The ministers have been just making helicopter visits, however no relief work has been started. People are starved. If immediate help will not be provided there will be huge loss of lives and livestock”
Proposed Response program by Ravi Foundation

·         Relief work for five thousand families along the Chenab river belt in Districts of Layya, Bhakar and Mainwali. Ration containing drinking water, milk, sugar, soap, first aid kits, fruits, food grains, wheat flour, cooking oil and crockery.
·         Tents are urgently required.
·         Vaccination to prevent from the epidemic, particularly for mother and child.
          Diseases have been broken out in the affected areas. 
Ravi Foundation and registered non profits with government of Pakistan has helped the earthquake victims in 2005 northern areas and 2008 in Balochistan, Pakistan. It has a disaster relief team which can initiate the relief work immediately.
