Welcome

One of my favorite amateur radio activities is operating portable.  This site will chronicle some of the outdoor adventures in radio that my OM (Jan WA6WTF)  and I have had, and will also have some links and information about operating in the field, as well as lighthouses in California in general. 

Piedras Blancas was our first portable operation and remains one of our favorite lighthouses, both because of its location and its architecture.  It is a "sister" to the lights at Pigeon Point and Point Arena.
