Inspired by principles of game and catastrophe theories, this play is a jazz-fugue that wonders whether cultural capital merits an alternative lifestyle in the age of contrivance, whether living beautifully on the fringes consigns one to the dustbin of history, and whether there is a way to skew the rules of the game of upward mobility in America. The play’s development has been supported by the National Endowment
for the Arts, the Vermont Arts Council, the Arts Endowment Fund of the Vermont
Community Foundation and the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts. An experimental radio version was broadcast
live on WRUV FM Burlington and staged workshops have been presented
by Lost Nation Theater, the Vermont Jazz Center and the Burlington Discover
Jazz Festival. The Vermont productions featured an original jazz score by Patricia Julien performed live by her ensemble. Written and Directed by Rachel Perlmeter Lighting Design by John B.
