Welcome to r4stats.com! This site's mission is to help people learn and use R, especially people who are familiar with other data analysis software. R is a free, open source,
package for doing data analysis and graphics. It is roughly the
equivalent to the "big three" commercial packages: SAS, SPSS and Stata. Under "Authors" you'll find brief biographical summaries of Bob Muenchen and Joe Hilbe. Under "Add-ons" you'll find advice on choosing R packages, especially if you know the names of SAS or SPSS add-on modules. Under "Books" you can download the free early version of my book, R for SAS and SPSS Users. Reviews of the books R for SAS and SPSS Users and R for Stata Users are there too, along with two interviews about them.
There you will also find the books' support files, containing over 30 programs written in R, SAS, SPSS and Stata, their practice data sets and a corrections (errata) and clarifications file for each. Under "Example Programs" you will find examples of common data acquisition, management and analysis tasks and how to perform them in each language. These are the examples from the books in a format that's easier to read in a web browser. The "Miscellaneous" section has very brief book reviews, shows how to use Excel for data entry, how to run R from SPSS, and so on. Under "Software Popularity" you will find a comparison of various ways to estimate the market share of data analysis software packages. Finally, under "Workshops" you will find information regarding workshops on R that I teach. If you find any errors or think of ways to improve this site, please drop me a line. -Bob Muenchen, muenchen dot bob at gmail dot com |
