Definition Robot Training - Using ThreatExpert

What is ThreatExpert?

ThreatExpert is a website created by PC Tools (creators of Spyware Doctor) where thousands of people submit files every day to see if they are infected with a virus. ThreatExpert scans the file, sees what changes (if any) the file makes when executed, lists the virus aliases of any viruses are found, and generates a report containing all the information.

So what do we use ThreatExpert for?

Hundreds of these reports are generated and can be found on the ThreatExpert website freely accessible to all. The QVR homepage actually lists the most recent verified threats from ThreatExpert. This is the easiest way to choose new threats to program into QVR: just click on one of the items in that box to open the report.

There are other tools that you will use as well, such as the Norman Sandbox Information Center, but ThreatExpert is the most important and versatile, so we will only be looking at it for the time being. Feel free to use other tools if they help you reach higher levels of productivity or effectiveness, but run them by a Project Manager in case we want to implement wider use of them.
