https://twitter.com/queensstm The Salute To Music Program, also known as the Borough Wide, is now in its 54th year of operation. This is a totally cost-free and fully sanctioned program of the New York City Department of Education. We rehearse every Saturday, from 8:45- 11:45 at Russell Sage IS 190 ( 68-17 Austin Street, Forest Hills, NY). Our concert season runs from October to May. The annual Spring Concert is held in Long Island City High School and we are honored to occasionally be able to have the concert in the world-famous Carnegie Hall. Any student who is in middle school and who plays a conventional band instrument ( flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, baritone horn, trombone, tuba, percussion ), or orchestral string instrument ( violin, viola, cello, bass ), and has at least 1 year of playing experience is eligible to audition for our program. Please check back for more audition information, or click on the link above to find announcements on Twitter.
In addition to the regularly-scheduled rehearsals, students have the option to sign up for a further enrichment program that is offered by teachers from the New York Pops. Cost-free small group instruction is offered in the following areas - flute, lower woodwinds ( clarinet and saxophone), upper brass and strings. |
