2011 QPAI EXHIBITION RULES
REGISTRATION FORMS ARE REQUIRED BY 10th JUNE, 2011.
Entries must be delivered to the Auditorium, Mt Coot-tha at 10.30 am, Friday 17th June.
An article may be refused acceptance if it is the joint decision of 3 or more members of the committee.
No responsibility is held by the Association for breakages or loss of articles in any exhibition.
For every item sold, a commission of 15% will be charged. Profit on items sold will be paid in 30 days.
Articles must be labelled according to the entry form and priced for sale or marked not for sale.
All exhibitors need to take their turn in helping in the exhibition. Exceptions made in case of sickness or distance.
Members who return entry forms by specified date are assured of display area. Late entries will be accepted only if space is available. Members are to keep a copy of their entry form.
Unsold articles should not be collected until after closing on Sunday unless by permission of committee.
Setup will commence at 8am on Friday 17th June. Sunday closing time is 3.30pm.
EXHIBITORS
All exhibitors must be financial members of QPAI.
Painting must be the artist's own work. Decals are not accepted.*
Painting may be on bone, porcelain or bisque china.
The front of all articles 'not for sale' must have a sticker marked NFS or a red dot. Items ‘for sale’ will have Item No and Price and artist’s name or initials marked on a sticker. All items will be sold through the official sales area. Only porcelain and glass accepted in sales area - no craft.
Members may embellish their personal display with 2 or 3 small props.
Each entrant will provide own stands and elevation supports.
DISPLAYS – Numbers of entries will determine if all sections are included.
Personal Display:- Celebrating Queensland is an Optional Theme for Personal Display –Each person’s work to be displayed together. Class pieces will be accepted in this section. The number of pieces will be governed by the space available. (Approx. 5 pieces)
*Feature Display 1: - Creative Use of Decals. Please Note! “commercial picture decals of flowers, fruit, scenes etc” will not be accepted in this section. Up to 3 pieces.
Decals of various backgrounds, grounding, gold & platinum, and textures can be used in an imaginative way. Artists’ own original decals for repeating patterns on a piece of artwork can be used.
Feature display 2: - “Mixed Media” Up to 3 pieces of art which must consist of a piece of porcelain with which other media is included. The focal point of the piece should be porcelain content – exhibits may include porcelain, bone china, incorporating non-kiln-fired collage, silk etc., glass, faience (pottery decorated with glaze). Figurines & framed ceramic tiles are acceptable. Examples are –
A watercolour or other painting which has a porcelain canvas or tile or similar attached –
A painted porcelain piece which has had collage of any type adhered to it –
A slumped glass frame or platter etc which has a painted porcelain piece attached. –
Feature Display 3; - Hand painted Boxes – Up to 3 boxes - All sizes.
All recent items should be the painters’ own work. Old items may be early work of the painter or past member.
Feature Display 4; - How we learn - Seminar/Workshop pieces – Must be accompanied by a card acknowledging tutor.
Glass:- Kiln-fired. up to 3 pieces.
Any other Art: - other art work created by the members. Up to 3 pieces.
Miniatures and Jewellery; Kiln decorated - number of pieces will be governed by the space available.
COMPETITIONS
Dangerfield – People’s Choice - Open, any one piece.
Competitors must ensure that names or other identification on front or back of article are concealed.
President’s Choice and Patron’s Choice; will be selected from the overall display.
SALES AREA – The number of pieces displayed will be governed by the space available.
