Getting to Waterloo

The best route to Waterloo is typically through the Toronto Pearson International airport (YYZ).  A shuttle service, such as Airways Transit, or a taxi/limo service will take you the rest of the way to Waterloo. The total time on the road is about 90 minutes if the traffic is normal.  Invited participants should contact Kim Kuntz by e-mail ( kkuntz@uwaterloo.ca ) with their expected arrival/departure times as well as flight information to arrange for a shuttle to/from the airport.  Students and PDFs accompanying invited participants should arrange for the shuttle directly through Airways Transit:

  A one-way trip is approximately $75, and there is group discount if two or more people book tickets together. ADVANCE RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL SERVICES.

The Kitchener-Waterloo airport (YKF) is much smaller, with limited flights. This is a good choice if you can find a reasonable connection, since it's only about a 20 minute drive to IQC. You can use a taxi or rent a car. Traffic is really not an issue.

Visas
Please note that citizens of certain countries need a visa to enter Canada. Click here for a list of these countries. If you need a visa, we encourage you to register early. You may need the e-mail confirmation of acceptance to the conference for a visa application.  Note: since Jan. 2007, U.S. citizens require a valid passport to enter Canada.

Hotel (invited speakers do not need to book their own accommodations; external participants as well as students and PDFs accompanying invited speakers should arrange for hotel reservations using the information below)

Accommodations are available at the Destination Inn. Accompanying students and PDFs should book their rooms directly and mention “Solid State QIP” when you book.

We have blocked 10 rooms from the night of Sunday, May 16th through to Thursday, May 20th for students/PDFs who may wish to attend the workshop. The rate is $114.00-$139.00CAD per night. The last day of room booking with the guaranteed rate is April 16th, 2010. Due to the limited number of rooms, it is advised to book your room early.

Location

The workshop will be held at the Institute for Quantum Computing, in the Research Advancement Centre (RAC) in the University of Waterloo's Research and Technology Park.  Information on the specific location of the RAC with a map can be found on the Location page.
