For some, visiting an acupuncturist for the first time may seem like one is entering into a strange world.  However, in practice, it is very much like visiting any other healthcare provider.  You will be greeted at our reception area and you will be asked to fill out some paperwork; such as our Registration Information, our Consent to Be Treated form, and a Patient Questionnaire asking you to detail your medical history, family history, any prescriptions you are taking, diet and habits.  

Upon completion of these forms, you and I shall sit and discuss what you wish to create for your health.  My style of practice is to establish a working team relationship with my patients.  Each of us will have input and ideas about your treatment plan.  I consider myself as your consultant in your health goals.  In that way, the best overall results can be created for you.  The initial interview lasts about an hour and the treatment with acupuncture needles typically is thirty minutes in length.  Before any acupuncture treatment is started you will be asked if you wish to continue with the treatment and you will be able to stop the treatment at any time.  

You should wear loose, comfortable clothing so that general areas of your legs, arms, and torso may be easily accessed for treatment.  All acupuncture treatments are performed in private, comfortable treatment rooms and upon standard massage tables.  If an herbal formula is part of your treatment, I shall provide you with the herbal formula or, if you prefer I shall provide a written herbal prescription which you can take with you and have filled at any Chinese herbal pharmacy in the area.  Most herbal formulas that I suggest are in pill or capsule form.
