So you can better understand me and how I became a
Licensed Acupuncturist I shall tell you that I have been practicing Chinese Medicine for over ten years. I became interested in Chinese Medicine and Healing while studying with Sifu Jenny Lamb in Virginia. From her I learned Qi Gong, Tai Ji Quan, and Meditation. After twenty
successful years in the computer industry, I decided to enroll formally in the
study and practice of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. I have had the joy of studying this medicine
at two of the finest schools in the United States; the Maryland Institute of
TCM in Bethesda, MD; and the American College of TCM located in San
Francisco. Today, I hold degrees from
both schools. I was the On-Staff herbalist at the Walnut Creek Elephant Pharmacy as well as their Practitioner Consultant for Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. I am a licensed acupuncturist in the State of California and have been in private practice nearly ten years, including a prior practice in Silver Spring, Maryland. Initially I trained in Acupuncture at the Maryland Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Bethesda Maryland before returning for another master’s degree at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco. At the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, my studies included herbal medicine formulation and pharmacy and the treatment of PTSD and other stress related disorders, infectious disease, and dermatology. I focus my practice on GI health, detox, hormone support, orthopedic rehabilitation, stress reduction, and internal medicine. I find that integrative medicine can offer patients the best holistic care. To further my skills in integrative medicine, I enrolled in a post-graduate program in “Acupuncture Orthopedics and Qualified Medical Evaluator Course” at Cedar Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. This 300+ hour training provided a working understanding of allopathic physical medicine & rehabilitation, physical evaluation techniques, medical procedures, and structural tests such as MRI, x-ray, and bone scans. In addition, this course covered California workers compensation disability evaluation, and malpractice guidelines. My previous positions as the On-Staff herbalist
and Chinese Medicine practitioner at Elephant Pharmacy and my 20+ years as a
project manager helps me interact and communicate complex medical information
to a general audience. I am actively engaged in promoting acupuncture and
integrative health. I have published an article on Yin Yang Theory
in the Acupuncture Today magazine and also Integrative Approaches to Cancer
Treatment. I am currently a member of the Clinical Faculty at AIMC-Berkeley where I train acupuncture interns in developing their skill in Acupuncture as well as Standards of Care. -Mike |
"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn
a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at
least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let
us all be thankful." --Buddha
