Aim of the Consortium
The Queensland Consortium for Professional Experiences in Pre-service Teacher Education (QCPEPTE) aims to work proactively to secure appropriate professional experience opportunities for preservice teachers and foster the collaboration of stakeholders to address the issues.

Context

There are nine institutions offering pre-service teacher programs in Queensland.  Each has a different emphasis and structure, yet share one common feature, the facilitation of professional experience (practicum).  In addition, institutions from across Australia are setting up campuses in major centres across Queensland adding to the demand for places in schools and educational centres.  It is widely acknowledged that all institutions continue to struggle to secure sufficient quality placements for their students.

Anticipated Outcomes

  1. Develop and maintain a collaborative and shared responsibility approach among all stakeholders to address the challenges and issues associated with securing sufficient appropriate field placements.
  2. Develop shared streamlining of processes and policies.
  3. Promote partnerships to develop shared understandings of quality preservice teacher professional experiences.
  4. Collaborative exploration of responses to our current educational contexts by working with schools and teachers to meet future needs.
  5. Facilitate communication channels among all stakeholders in the development of Queensland’s future teachers.
  6. Advocate for all stakeholders in the pre-service teacher process.
