Cereal Boxes
A 400g (14 oz)* cereal box on its side makes a great storage box for WIP (work in progress) or FO (finished object) folders and samples.
- cut the long side and bottom of one side of the cereal box
- fold the resulting flap up (I write the design name on this flap)
- tape up the original top of the box (I put an extra little piece of cardboard along the open edge to stabilize it)
- done!
I place my design portfolio, WIP (in ziploc bag), needles, notes, scribbles, etc. in this storage box.
When a project is finished, move the label to the outside of the box, close the "top" and you have an easy storage solution. Everything in one place!
*I'm working on baby designs at the moment, so this size works well. For larger projects you may need to use larger size cereal boxes.
Tool Caddy
Milk Carton CaddyThis little milk carton caddy idea was originally published in Womans Day January 1976 issue.
For smaller, taller tools like afghan hooks and paint brushes, the boxes that toothpaste comes in would work.
Vases and JarsRose bowls and mustard, baby food, jam, coffee and sauce jars also make good tool caddies for stitch holders, double-pointed needles, pens, pencils, crochet hooks, stitch gauges, cable needles...
