The Harmony Guides: Cable & Arans Stitch Search



This MS Excel file  Harmony Guide Cables and Arans stitch guide.xls contains all of the stitch names and the stitch/row counts from the book The Harmony Guides Cables & Arans 250 Stitches to Knit edited by Erika Knight (2007). It does not contain the patterns for each stitch. The information in this file is for people who already have the book and want an easier way to locate/organize the contents.

Why did I do this?
One of the things I really liked about the old version of this book was that it was organized by stitch and pattern row repeats. I could find a 4 stitch x 16 row cable pattern in no time flat! Not so with this new volume. Hence, this file.

This file contains:
  1. all of the stitches by name,
  2. their page number,
  3. the number of stitches required,
  4. the number of extra stitches required to complete the pattern sequence if any (e.g. a sequence may use 9 st repeats + 2 extra stitches), and
  5. the number of rows required for a full sequence
  6. whether the stitch is worked on a Reverse Stocking Stitch background
  7. whether the stitch is charted in the book.
