The water effects have been made via a layering process:

• Painting the river bed with greens and browns in streaks having added rocks etc.
  
• Sealing the river bed with varnish and adding a few more green and brown streks.
• Applying "Magic Water" to give depth to the flat sections
• Applying Woodland Scenics "Water Effects" to form the waterfalls and 'waves'
