International Crane Foundation

The International Crane Foundation, located in Baraboo, Wi, is a wonderful non-profit organization that is working to preserve endangered cranes and their habitats all over the world.

The Avian Science Club has helped out the ICF and these beautiful, endangered birds by adopting two cranes, Corcho and Nandi.

Corcho is a Eurasian crane who hatched in 2001.  He came with his namte Bellota to the ICF in 2005 from Belgium, Germany.  The Eurasian cran can be found in Western Europe, across Eurasia and as far as Northern China.

Nandi is a female Wattled crane, thought to be hatched in 1966.  Her and her mate, Chaka, were originally caught in Africa.  Nandi and Chaka came from the Oklahoma Zoo in 1986.  There are only 7,700 Wattled cranes left in the world.
