Sideways

When I was watching the Cybertron cartoon torward the end, I totally disliked and dissed Sideways after he revealed himself more
like a coward and dastard. Besides that, his pointy chest design is also not my favorite. So it's easily for me to pass him even
though I had the chance to grab him from the shelf. Up until recently I read about him on either TFA or Serbertron's forum I can't
remember, people still reviewed him as a good toy but that didn't make me want to hunt him. Then there was one day I went to Once
Upon A Child to sell my son's bumper jumper, I found they have few TFs and one of them is Sideways, complete with instruction
for only $3.50, I grabed him right away (also bought Cybertron Override and Energon Starscream, but later returned them. Override
is totally a piece of crap even though I love the car mode so much, Starscream isn't that charming to me and also missing weapons).

Sideways's alternate mode is a Cybertronian jet or spaceship or whatever it is with reverse wings. This THING looks sleek and the
color allocation is well done. Pretty sturdy too that nothing will fall off easily. Not many gimmicks in this mode but only raise the
back and put in the key to pop out the blades. But this doesn't mean too much.

After the most complicate and challenging transformation for the Cybertron line toys I've owned so far, Sideways transforms from
a wide and bulky spaceship to a thin robot. He isn't taller than any other deluxe class which I hope he would be so. The first thing
to make my eyes blink is the bright orange. It is just too bright that totally contrasts the main color black. It would be nicer if it is
darker like he has in the cartoon. Other than this, he is a great figure. The pointy chest does not bother me too much and he is very
poseable and well balanced. He can knee down and do varieties of poses without intefering by other parts. With his big flat foot, his
body is well balanced and don't need to worry about falling down. Only the hip joints look a little bit scary to me. I'm afraid it will
come loose some day but so far it is still good. The hip is combined tightly from two pieces, but too bad the join line is too
obvious. When changing back to alternate mode, it is very hard to split the hip back to two. Pulling the legs can sometimes pop the
legs out. The wings can act like a extra armor piece on each leg or can be like a sword holding on each hand or a double sword.
The use of left arm weapon is much better is robot mode.

Transformation: 8 - Complicate enough for a deluxe class but satisfying. I even have to take a peek at the instruction when putting
back to alternate mode at the first time.
Fun: 9 - Super fun as a robot. Spaceship or jet mode is not so much.
Display: 9 - The spaceship/jet will take a lot of spaces due to the wing. Robot mode is excellent, lots of poses and well balanced.
Only problem is he does not fit quite well with classic lines as I am trying to.
Value: 10 - A fantastic steal of $3.5 for this figure from Once Upon A Child. He worths more than that.
Overall: 9 - He should be a voyager class figure but the design makes him still fantastic as a deluxe class. Even for a character I
don't like, he is an good toy.
