Another minor character comes in big. How minor? He only appeared in G2, Armada, and Energon and never in comics. How big? This is
a very good toy that so many people recommanded. He was in my W list initially, then took him out because I am not focusing on movie
lines. Now I hunted and bought him because of his reputation around the web and he belongs to the group of movie figures that don't
belong there but fit well with classic lines, like Bludgeon, Mindwipe, Breacher, and Lockdown.
Since he has no strong background to define him, he can be anything and any color that Hasbro wants him to look like. Terradive's
alternate mode is very, very close to the Sukhoi Su-47 jet. He is majority colored in orange-yellow and black with some minor white
which IMO fits very well. He is highly detailed with a cockpit and mounted machine guns. However, like most of the jetformers, if you
look at him from underneath, you can see most of the robot parts but at least they don't distract as much as movie Jetfire does. Weapon
can be stored underneath but that doesn't make any sense because he has a weapon that doesn't belong to any jet. I'll cover that later.
Now let the fun begin. Many people refer him to Jhiaxus due to the color but he reminds me so much of Cybertron Sideways or classics
Cyclonus which is turning a bulky jet into a thin robot. But his transformation scheme is totally unique and different than them. Could
be similar to Energon Starscream but way better. He is well painted and highly detailed. His eyes are painted partially in dark orange and
surrounded by clear light-pipe. So when you put the light behind him, the light glows in his eyes around the dark orange which is a very
nice touch. This is a feature I think first appeared in WFC Megatron and then WFC Soundwave but unfortunately their eyes are fully
covered by paint on mine which makes the ligh-pipe useless. Typical feature of thin robots, he is highly poseable and well balanced
and no extra kibbles to limit his limbs movement. The elbow joints are a little bit loose on mine but they worked okay so far.
Now to the weapons. Nowadays there are more Transformers using close combat weapons, such as movie Prime, movie Sideswipe,
animated Arcee and Drift. Straxus has the strange pickaxe but that is what he uses in the comics. Terradive, he has a spear that can turn
into trident. Since he looks very fishy, the trident makes him more so. It is very long and feels very flimsy, but he does look very nice
while holding it. There looks like a gun/laser/cannon on the tip so you can imagine him using it to shoot out flashes like Ariel's father
does. While this weapon is meaningless storing in the jet mode, it is much better in the robot mode. It can be either stored on his back
or on the left shoulder. Then what will his hands do? First time when I saw him with his hands folding in and thrust vectors out, I
laughed because that reminds me so much of Mega Man or Astro Boy. It actually works pretty well that those thrust vectors really look
like some kind of gun/cannon. Anyway, besides that, the hole in his open palm (modern design) can fit any standard weapons and hold
them well. He looks very cool with Recon Ironhide's rifle (well, everybody looks cool with that weapon) and it can also be stored on his
left shoulder. I actually prefer him with a gun more than his trident.
Transformation: 7 - Being very close but does not cross the line of becoming over complicate, but I can see kids having trouble with
the jet nose.
Fun: 9 - Jet mode is nice. Robot mode is superb since he is very poseable and his weapon interactions. Not being perfect becuase of
the QC issue on his elbow joints and shoulder panel.
Display: 8 - Jet mode looks nice from certain view. Robot mode is very poseable and displays nicely along with my classics.
Value: 10 - $9 at Target. He totally worths it.
Overall: 8 - A very nice addition to my classics Decepticons. This is a very nice figure if you don't care about his name. But if you do,
this overall point may drop to 7 or 6. I will even consider picking up a remold if he has a really nice different color, head, and weapon.
