To be honery, I really don't like the Starscream's movie design. First, you can call me old school but F-22 can never be better for me
than F-15. Then, I just don't quite like his triangle body and none of his toys are doing it right so far to represent him on screen. Last,
in ROTF, he has tatoos. What? Tatoos!? Evenw hen this new leader class design came out, I still decided it's a pass. Guess I'm just not
strong enough and get influence by other people, after reading many, many good reviews about him, I soft my mind and go get this
big guy. Like ROTF leader Prime, HASBRO is doing it right again.
Starscream's alternate mode is a F-22 Raptor. No comment on the new tech fighter. Even as a leader class, unfortunately he still does
not look right (and Japanese marked it as Master Piece with MP price, what!?). Unlike MP seekers are doing everything right, he looks
great from the front or top, but not from the side or back, not even talk about from the bottom. From the side, he is just way too
thick becuase of the legs. From the bottom, he just has too many robot kibbles not bother to hide. Other than the looks, this jet
works well for the rest. He is very sturdy that no parts are falling off. Pushing down the light and sound button from the top, lights at
cockpit and engines will light up and he has two different sound effects in jet mode. The landing gears also works good.
Starscream is packed in robot mode. Honestly I have no idea where to start the transformation in the beginning. The transformation
is fairly complicate for the first time that so many little pieces need to be moved, definitely need instruction help. After that, he isn't
that difficult and also not as complicate as ROTF leader Prime. The robot mode is what is so right about this figure finally. He looks
so much like he is on the screen and his detail is amazing and is actually quite poseable. He looks really top heavy but if you position
the legs right, he is actually balanced well. The legs are still thin but finally longer unlike other versions' short legs. The rachet joints
are much stronger than Jetfire's so the thin legs can hold his heavy body nicely. The arms are great. Very detailed and has many wide
movements. Each arm has a pop up weapon that works great. The extra missile launcher that he used in the first movie can be
attached on either hands. Now the head, it is very detailed and his mouth can open by either pushing the head up or push down the
cockpit to activate the light and sound feature. Speak about the light and sound, unlike all other movie leader classes, he speaks
two sentences. It's really nice the jet sound can still be activated in the robot mode. The wings flip nicely on his back so he does
not has too much kibbles on his back as on Prime's. If you really want me to be picky about him, I would hope his palms can rotate.
Another bonus to make this figure even greater (and Bandai will not be happy about it), he has an almost perfect gerwalk mode.
Transformation: 9 - Transformation is fun and complicate enough. Not frustrate as Prime sometimes has.
Fun: 10 - Jet mode is good. Robot mode is tons of fun to play and pose.
Display: 9 - He displays nicely in robot mode. Jet mode takes more space and he doesn't look that perfect.
Value: 7 - Yikes! $44.99 full price from Target. I will see if I can get a discount one in three months.
Overall: 9 - He is a perfect figure in robot mode and jet mode is somewhat close. Unfortunately still suffers some balance issue.
