Please raise you hand if you have this movie leader class Jetfire but you don't have the leader class Optimus Prime............... Okay, nobody, right? Good.

 

Jetfire's alternate mode is the SR-71 Blackbird. I believe boys around my generation, nobody will never know this fantasic and sleek looking jet. This is one of the jets that I fancy with that will make my mouth open for a while (others are F-14 and F-15). This toy, too, make my mouth open, but it's a jaw dropping. This looks like an old school toy that people still had no idea of how to do the transformation, so they squeezed everything and put a shell on top and called it done. This jet only looks like a jet when looking from the top, or at least 30 degrees from the top. Other than that, all the ugly robot parts are just hanging there. There is almost no way to display this huge jet from any angle that will look good and realistic and in disguise. By the

way, despite Blackbird has no weapons at all, this toy introduces a very interesting technology, a chain gun with missle in the center.

 

Transformation to robot mode is easy since there are not too many parts need to be moved to reveal the robot parts. The robot mode is even more crappy than the movie. The upper body is huge like a brick. There is no need to make it so bulky that those ugly bird feet cannot hold its weight. Actually, can movie CG designer or Bay stop using those bird/dinasour knee bend legs? They just don't work out well. The arms are thin comparing to his body and his head can be turned but won't stay. Again, can Hasbro stop making the electronic sound by just saying their name? There is the name printed on the package so we know already. Why not saying something else like they did in the movie? Even "I am too old for this crap" is better than "I am xxx" or "xxx is my name", that will add up much more play value. Well, who care, Hasbro will never watch my site. To me, almost everything can be wrong on a transformer is all on him.

 

Transformation: 5 - Pretty easy but need time to connect the panels right.

Fun: 4 - I haven't had any fun on him plus he has big balance issue, but he is a must need to form my Jet Prime.

Display: 6 - Need a lot of space for the jet and only looks nice from the top. Robot mode is actually not bad to look but have to be careful he falls over.

Value: 8 - For this figure, never pay full price. He is not worth. I got him for $25 on Walmart site. So at least at this point I have no complain on him and somewhat satisfied.

Overall: 5 - For being a transformer toy along, he is not good. A false alternate mode with only good looking from the top and a not much you can do or display robot mode. I will never buy him if not for the mighty Jetpower Prime. That's right, just like in the movie, the ultimate sacrifice is for the best victory.
