Devastator

This is an interesting character from the second movie. His exist can totally be ignored or even removed since he is so that
unimportant. Same applied to the toy. When Devastator's supreme version came out, I laughed out very loud when I saw him. I
will never pay $100 or not even half price for this huge brick which is not poseable but only crying out loud and the individual
component does not do much or transforme. Later when the Japanese legend (EZ) version came out, it did look more tempting
but I will never pay that much Yen to import him. Until Hasbro announced they will import the same version in to US with USD
values, I started considering getting him. The result? Let's see.

Devastator breaks out into seven pieces: Mixmaster the mixer, Scavenger the excavator, Rampage the bulldozer, Long Haul the
dump truck, Hightower the crane, Overload the long dump truck, and Scrapper the payloader. Each car is nicely detailed and
rolls well as the size of Hot Wheels. They are pretty sturdy that no parts are falling off easily. I don't see there are much efforts
on the paint job but there are a lot of room for improvement. Guess I will do it for my leisure time.

Each component can also transform to robot mode. While I think overall they are fun in vehicle mode, robot mode is another
story. Scrapper the payloader has overall the best robot mode. Imagine if he has the same design to a bigger size, such as
deluxe, he would be a decent figure. Scavenger, Long Haul, and Overload are just okay. The rest, IMO, are just lame. But at
least, each of them are unique and interesting at some point. Same like their vehicle mode, they are highly detailed but lack
of paint job.

Now to the combined mode. Devastator isn't that big, which means if you try to make some on screen scenes, there is no way.
Maybe because of the size or the design, he pretty much has no articulations. There is no movement on the hip, only the knee
and feet can move a little bit. The shoulder joints only allow the arm to move forward, there is no way to swing or raise the
arm. The forearm can only raise from the connect joint but not too much. Raising both only makes him look like a kid trying
to make a halloween ghost to scare people. The head can make a slight turn but not much as I expect. If looking from the side,
the head just looks like hangning there as a flower basket. Overall, he is rather a display piece than a play thing.

Transformation: 8 - For the legend size, he has good 7 vehicle mode and each can convert to robot and then combine to the
bigger one. Not a bad one.
Fun: 6 - This is mix. I found they are fun in vehicle mode. Okay in robot mode and for Devastator, it is only for display.
Display: 7 - If you have space, displaying all parts in vehicle mode is not a bad choice. Robot mode has too less postures.
Value: 7 - $32.99 Walmart exclusive is not a bad price for seven legend classes. But he isn't decent enough to raise the value.
Overall: 7 - He has no comparison to my Bruticus. First is because of the size (well, supreme version isn't doing anything
better). Second is the design and the designer can use the size issue as an execuse. For a legend class, he is not bad. Let me
see how long I will keep him.
