Ramjet, Thrust, and Dirge are the next three seekers after the original Starscream, Skywarp, and Thundercracker. But they are not as famous as the original three and so did their rank and screen time. Even after all original seekers were dead after the movie, they were still sub characters that were used to fill in the crowd. They suffered the same thing in the comics. Only Ramjet got a chance to get his spotlight but was doing some nonsense and stupid things and ended up getting slaughtered by Megatron and kept his head to display. After acquiring Thrust and Dirge from the recent Generation line, the urge of getting Classics Ramjet to complete my coneheads is higher and higher. Unfortunately many people have the same feeling, so does the price. I’ve failed numerous bids on getting him and even though I kept raising my budget, I still get outbid. Then I remembered a site that I bought Hot Rod and Jetfire, I checked it and they have him in stock, at the price within my budget. So using that as my plan B and went back to evilBay to hope find something cheaper. I still failed. Later and later, people are gone crazier and even a loose one with missing missile could be bid up to $40. I even tried and got a KO one and it was a total disaster. So I went back to my old pal, got him and end the drama. Ramjet’s alternate mode is another remold of Classics Starscream’s F15. Since he was the first conehead coming out but the last one I got, I am already very familiar with this mold so there is nothing to picky about now. He has the one piece big triangular wing with the tip folding down. Each wing has an extra thrust vector so overall he looks like a jet can fly very fast. Before I don’t care but now I do, the rub sticker. I’ve removed the rub sticker and replaced with two small Decepticon insignias on each wing. Transformation is pretty much the same like all other Starscream-ish molds. Still tend to be careful on attaching and detaching the cockpit area since I don’t want it to be flattened and loose like Starscream. Ramjet’s robot mode is the best among the other two coneheads. His arms move freely (like Dirge) without any wings on the back to limit them. Thrust and all original Seekers do have this issue. The wings on the legs can be either extend out like Thrust and Dirge or folded backward and forward. Personally I much prefer folding them forward. That can save so much space as both Thrust and Dirge suffered on that especially Dirge, and make him look better as well. These two features make him the best among two other conheads and even better than Starscream because of no wings on the back. Transformation: 7 – Same like all other remolds and same problem.
Fun: 10 – He has the best fun in robot mode because there are no wings on the back to block arm movement and the wings on the legs can be folded in. Display: 10 – He can pose easier than other seekers and not taking out too space as others as well. Value: 6 - $21.99 from Ape4toys.com. He was available on the shelf before I start collecting and was cheaper before Hasbro released Thrust and Dirge and I missed all those opportunities. Well, at least now I complete the coneheads. Overall: 9 – This Starscream mold is just so nice and so easy to remold to. And this Ramjet even eliminate some of the problems that others have. Don’t miss him even though he is very expensive now. |
