This is the figure kept me thinking for very long. Bidding on him is challenging according to my max limit on him until recently
found a good deal that I think I should just BUY-IT-NOW instead of trying the bid again.
Megatron's alternate mode is like a nerf gun, very much like this one (oh, it's made by Hasbro also). Just a little bit bigger it can
be hold in my hand perfectly, but perfect for a child's hand. Too bad none of the figures are big enough (even Primus) to hold
him. This nerf gun is fun, the trigger can be clicked and the scope can see through. It is very sturdy also. All pegs are connected
tightly that no parts will move or fall off. The only issue is he is very hard to display in the gun mode since I don't have any
stand to hold him.
Transformation to robot mode is not difficult (but opposite back to gun mode) and very well designed. Megatron looks nice and
very sturday also. Most of the joints are ratch joints so they are very tight but that also limit the posing. He looks like a figure
that can stand well but he actually has some balance issues. Most of his problems are on the legs. Because of the ratch gap, just
one click away the legs are opened very wide which looks kind of strange. Then he has no ankle joins and the feet movement is
not that much, these makes him very difficult to pose and stand. Optimus Prime at this point is much better than him. The other
problem is everybody's problems I think. The wings. The gun cover now looks like two huge piece of butterfly wings. Since
Megatron already has balance issue, this make it worse. But the wings are actually quite configurable. So with some support, the
wings can actually make him look good or even support him to stand. Good thing his fist peg hole is the standard size so
besides his huge right arm cannon, he can hold others' weapon (such as one of Prime's gun....).
Transformation: 9 - Easy enough to transform from gun to robot but very challenging from robot back to gun. I actually have to
take a peak at the instruction for the first time.
Fun: 8 - Nerf gun mode is quite fun holding and clicking the triggers. Robot mode's balance and legs posing are some issues.
Display: 7 - Nerf gun mode almost has no place to put. Robot mode has those big wings to interfere.
Value: 8 - $16.00 plus shipping $4.95 from eBay is reasonable. Even though he is open boxed and no instruction, the original
owner kept him in a very good condition.
Overall: 8 - This is a very good figure to pair with Classics Prime to play with. If he has no those balance and posing issues, he
will be a perfect figure. Poor Prime that he is inch shorter than Megatron.
