Dropshot

I’ve been looking for the Universe Dropshot for a while. Not that he is a super fun figure, he is just the Cybertron Scattershot repaint. Not that he is a super cool character, he is so minor. But he is a good piece to hunt during drought period, plus he is a Decepticon. Recently I’ve learned his arms are good pieces for Energon Shockblast (Shockwave) which really brought up my interest in hunting him even more. Luckily I found one for cheap.

Dropshot’s alt mode is a multiple rocket launcher tank. To be simpler, he is a Cybertron Defense Scattershot repaint. Since the treads never work in Transformers toy, he has four tiny wheels but they don’t roll well. The missile launchers can rise up (and reveal his hidden head) but the turret cannot rotate. The cyber key activated weapons can be used in tank mode but that sort of break his disguise. There is also no place to hide his rifle but can be stored on either side. The paint jobs are quite nice that so far I have no complain of. Not much more about his vehicle mode and I really hope his turret can rotate.

Dropshot’s transformation is close to a no brainer. A voyager class whose transformation scheme is even easier than a scout class and like a legend class. Anyway, his robot mode is sturdy like a brick. Even mine is used but all joints are still tight, especially the knees (actually too tight). He does not have kibbles hanging around but his poseability is just okay due to those two huge rocket launchers hanging on each arm and the leg design. After activating the weapons, his left arm totally cannot move at all but just swinging. And I totally don’t like the rod moving head design during transformation. But his sweet part almost covers all his flaws. Dropshot is super well armed. Those two rocket launchers look totally badass. Plus he has a long rifle also. After activating the weapons, he looks even cooler. The rifle now has nowhere to go but can be attached on either leg. Only strange part is on his left arm weapon, there is an purple aiming mirror but it’s facing out. So who is using that to aim? Overall, Dropshot is a mediocre figure himself but those weapons add up much potential.

Transformation: 2 – Pretty much a no brainer. But I believe kids will have no trouble on that.
Fun: 7 – Tank mode isn’t really that much. Robot mode is hard like a brick but all his weapons are fun.
Display: 7 – He is wide and thin. With all the space taking out by his weapons, some people may not like him if their space is tight. To me, he may display well if he gets a chance to sit on my shelf.
Value: 10 – I won’t deny $9.99 for an almost new voyager class figure is a very good deal. Plus the shipping he is still lower than Target’s clearance price. But I won’t spend more than that on him especially if I need to get another one.
Overall: 7 – Not a bad figure after all and a nice addition for your Decepticons if you have some spare cash and space. To me, I will enjoy him much for now because very soon he will lose his arms. And I don’t think I will get another one.
