Dirge

Several years ago when I was not yet so into the Transformers G1 line, I would easily pass Dirge since both his looks aren't really my
taste. Now is different. I never doubt about getting him and grabbed him right away (well, with paint quality comparison to another) when
I found him on the shelf like I did for Thrust and other classic (universe/generation) lines.

Like Thrust, he is one of the three conehead fighters and his alternate mode is also a modified F-15. He looks much similar to Ramjet and
is actually a retool of Ramjet in Takara's Gentei line. Now Hasbro did the same thing with different (better?) paint scheme. Beside's the
modified look, this jet's design is just like others, but more like Starscream's since his gun can have only one spot to put. Well, only Thrust
has multiple spots. The color scheme and plastic quality are fairly nice. Initially I thought the wings might look cheap but they are actually
not after seeing the real thing. The cockpit glass is transparent and too bad Hasbro didn't chrome paint his cockpit as they did on Thrust.
That might bring up the whole quality and make him look nicer.

Transformation is nothing special but identical. However, the position of the wing's small front tip may cause different looks and functions.
By folding them with the traditional way (and instruction way), the bigger triangular piece is laying downward. This will create a whole free
space for his arms that they can move freely without any limitation (both Starscream and Thrust have this issue). However, if not folding
the tip over but puting the triangular piece upward, his overall look improves more but sacrifices his arm movement like others. So I think
that totally depends on your needs. After fiddling with him for a while, I found I rather follow the traditional way so that I will have totally
free arm space. Even though I still don't like those two triangular pieces hanging there. The big wings are hanging on the side of both legs
and it's totally pointless moving them forward. The paint overall looks nice. Only the part on his stomach kind of screws up.

Transformation: 7 - If you ever touched Starscream or Thrust or any other seekers, you will have no problem with him.
Fun: 8 - The F-15 (original and modified) mold is just fun in either modes.
Display: 7 - The big wings on the legs really took space and didn't look that sleek. But that is how Dirge looks. Jet mode is good, though.
Value: 9 - $9 even at Walamrt. Oooohhhhhhhh yeah!!!!!
Overall: 8 - This classics seeker mold is such a nice mold that easy to transform and play with. He now really makes me want to get
Ramjet to complete all 3 conehead seekers. If you like G1, don't miss him.
