I like the classics line generally. But the reason for me really want to get Astrotrain is still kind of unclear. Guess I failed bidding
him too many times so I try to prove I can win it.
The first alternate mode for Astrotrain is a space shuttle. This is looking very realistic besides the two chunk of elements along
the two sides of fuselage which are used to form the train. It has front landing gears (great!) and two mounted landing gears
underneath the wings (and two extra wheels on the wings for the train). His huge gun can be stored at the bottom which is really
nice (yeah! a spce shuttle with laser guns!) and does not affect rolling the shuttle.
The second alternate mode is a bullet train. This train looks rather good for the front half. The back half looks strange but that's
where the shuttle parts are hiding. Putting the gun on top of the train doesn't look too bad. It kind of reminds me the railway gun
in WWII.
With all the 80% perfect shuttle and 50% perfect train, the robot mode actually looks really nice besides the color issue that he
is way too white. This second hand figure comes with really loose arm ball joints so he can barely raise his arms for any posing.
Fortunately this is the problem I can fix easily. He is really well balanced and can do some basic posing (if the arms can stay).
The wings can fold for angles which is a nice touch. His gun does not look beautiful but at least it is big. It is always good to
bend the arms a little bit so that the train nose will not easily goes back in to the arm with any light touch.
Transformation: 8 - Pretty good and not terrible for a triple changer.
Fun: 8 - Shuttle, train, and robot. He deserves it.
Display: 8 - Which mode do you want to display him? Hmmm, which one?
Value: 8 - $12.5 winning bid isn't too bad, but the shipping costs $6.
Overall: 8 - Isn't he supposed to be gray? This is like putting Bumblebee in orange. And I am not totally interesed in henkei
version. I like him more than my classics Starscream. And I am very touched my son likes him now (after 3 months).
