Soundwave, after his specialist was portrait so well in G1 cartoon, we all find he (or Hasbro) has hard time to find his new alternate mode in the new era. In the live action movie ROTF, he was a satellite which is a good and reasonable concept but the toy implementation never interested me. He was still alive after the movie so he appeared again in movie DOTM. This time the designer gave him a very, very generic alt mode, a car, which is disappointing but this car is just way too cool to pass on. So his HA version immediately got put in to my W list but don’t know when it will be available. Then I saw the picture of deluxe class and then the legion class and the legion class is the first one available. Since we found it, I bought it for my son and he is very happy about it.

Soundwave’s alternate mode is a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. This car looks as sexy as can be and costs like a house. This toy rolls well and looks very nice besides the body is not painted. The legion (legend) size is perfect for carrying around and so far none of the parts are easily falling.

The transformation is fairly easy that my son can do by himself after few tries. Only the legs may pop off during rotation but they are easy to put back in. The robot mode looks okay and only his face looks like Soundwave from the movie. The arms aren’t really there but there are some light blue speaker like circles on there to try to represent his sonic cannons. His right hand is able to grip Cyberverse weapons and accessories but why not did the same thing on left hand I don’t know. There is a pretty standard legion (legend) class toy so really not much special for me to talk about here besides he is Soundwave.

Transformation: 8 – Easy enough for my son to transform by himself but legs rotation may pop out the legs.
Fun: 9 – A really fun little toy. But why not make his left hand the same as his right hand so he can grab things both hands.
Display: 7 – He displays very well but would be a lot better if he is painted.
Value: 6 - $4.95 for a legion (legend) class toy is quite much and they don’t go on sale like deluxe class does. Well, at least this is a good toy.
Overall: 8 – A nice small toy and he is Soundwave and a licensed Mercedens-Benz SLS AMG toy car.
