Beast Machine Megatron

For some reason, RiD Megatron failed winning my son's heart miserably. I don't know why because he loves dragon. Later I sold him due
to my narrowing collecting line and my son never asked about him even though he is into dragon more and more. Last year (2010) before
Christmas, we went to Once Upon A Child to sell some kids stuff. He and I later were hanging around in the store and just about the time
we left, I spotted a red dragon with gray wings. It was this BM Megatron in an almost perfect condition and my son wanted it right away.
Bought it and then drove home, watching from the back mirror, he had this new toy on his lap and fell into sleep.

Megatron's dragon mode is fairly beautiful. Wings are very wide and articulated with two steel bar joints on each, only they are a little bit
loose now. The dragon head is very vivid and the neck is fully articulated and movable and that's also where the main gimmick is. By
moving the neck, you can actually see the mouth open and shut,  a very good design IMO. Only problem is the neck is spring loaded,
which is easily springing back to the forward position that makes posing the dragon in flying pose very difficult. I thought about open
the neck up and remove the spring but not yet have the courage to do so. The dragon arms are attached on the wings which can clearly
see some gaps in between with the body. The legs also look fairly nice and can stand well with support from the tail.

Transformation isn't that difficult but not easy for the first time also. The most difficult part even until now is to get his head out of his
chest because it is very tight and not much space also. Let's start with the cape mode which his whole body is wrapped by the wings.
Kind of reminds me about Batman and he is pretty much a statue, can't do anything else. Now open it up, his left arm is the dragon neck,
he right arm consists half of the tail that has no where to go, and his stomach is folded by the dragon arms. Then because of the legs
design and the heavy wings, he has serious problem standing and this time there is no tail to support. Wings can be used as support but
do not work too well. He is also fairly short as a ultra class since he is much shorter than any standard deluxe class. The only thing
makes him to be the ultra class size is because of the wings. Posing is very limited because his entire left arm has the same spring
loaded problem in dragon mode and his right arm can't do too much by half of the tail sticking out. Overall, Megatron's robot mode is
kind of pathetic comparing to his wonderful looking dragon mode.

Transformation: 6 - Quite difficult for taking his head out. Other parts are nice and well connected.
Fun: 9 - My son loves him and he loves playing him in either mode, although he complains to me about the neck/left arm issue also.
Display: 7 - He display nicely in dragon mode. In robot mode, he barely stands well and I totally don't like the face design.
Value: 10 - 50 cents. Yes, you read it right. I only spent 50 cents on this nearly mint condition figure from Once Upon A Child. So I
shouldn't have any complain about his issues and I'm glad I didn't spend even half of the original price ($15?) to get him.
Overall: 7 - If the neck works better, he will have a perfect fantastic dragon mode. Unfortunately in robot mode, he failed at many
points on being good.
