Skip the intro. It will be the same as Optimus Prime.
Jazz total has 122 pieces. Since I’m a Jazz sucker, many things are wrong here. First is his color. Jazz is not silver. You could use his movie color silver but not when you use his G1 head as the head. Second, what is this car? It’s neither a Solstice nor a Martini. You can use the silver to look like Solstice but when you add the Martini style racing stripe on to it, it just looks totally wrong and not fit. Since Jazz has more pieces and slightly bigger, the same design flaws as mentioned in Optimus and Bumblebee applies here. He has the doors and roof can open and shot but doesn’t add much flexibility on putting in small figures. Optimus and Bumblebee don’t have the vehicle mode right but at least they got the color right.
Now rebuild him into robot mode. He is definitely the G1 Jazz but colored wrong. Head is pretty good and he is quite bulky. Feet is too small which will affect the balance since he is quite top heavy (come one Hasbro, you give small Bumblebee big flat feet and give this top heavy Jazz small feet?). The thing I hate the most, Jazz having door wings, is also there but the doors are quite small and barely visible. His height is about the same as Optimus Prime but even though he has more pieces, his joints are still exactly the same like those two smaller ones.
Now could be the highlight of this entire set, the mini figures. Jazz comes with two, himself and a human. The Jazz figure is excellent and his limb joints are ball joints, different than the traditional Lego figures which can pose a little bit more. More so, he is actually wearing a helmet. So the helmet is removable and you can see his eyes. Putting a hat on is totally hilarious but so fun. The notorious (for me) door wing is there blocking everything to prevent him from driving himself, but it is removable which is certainly nice. He also comes with a gun to swing at. While this figure is so nice, the human figure feels totally unnecessary. He shares the same features but I much prefer Hasbro can give us cartoon robot characters instead of just a random human racer. It just doesn’t fit.
Transformation: 0 – Same like Optimus.
Fun: 10 – Same like Optimus plus mini figures. Great! Display: 5 – He looks nice in robot mode but I hate the fact his color is wrong. Also the car mode is bad. Value: 8 – Same like Optimus but $11.99. The mini figures adds up the value more. Overall: 7 – Same like Optimus. And I really like the mini figures. Only if Hasbro can give us a robot character instead of a human. |
