Bruticus (Crossfire)

This is the first time I order the Transformers made by third party company, Fansproject. FP has a pretty good reputation with their design and quality even with much higher price tag than Hasbro. I've passed few sets but after the Bruticus, a.k.a. Crossfire, upgrade set has revealed, I just couldn't resist and push down my fingers to order it. After months of wait and delay after delay, now I finally got him. And man, he worths the wait.

For the first time, let's start from the package. These two boxes are packed so well. They won't take you long to open them and enjoy, comparning to the common pain of opening a brand toys with so many twist wires and rubber bands. The instruction is a full color book and their bios are enjoyable to read. Now let's break up to each figures again after the upgrade.

Blast Off
(Explorer)
Brawl Onslaught Swindle
(Munitioner)
Vortex

This is what Bruticus looks originally. This is what Bruticus looks in energon/universe/ROTF. And now is the Bruticus after the FP upgrade, you can clearly see the differences and this is clearly the best of the best. After following the instruction to form this upgraded Bruticus, I have no other better words to describe this. With only two new limbs and additional parts, FP totally rebuilt this Bruticus to another level. Bruticus is now fully articulated with all necessary and reasonable joints. He also has all kinds of
weapon options to choose. Just great, fantastic, excellent, wonderful, superb, awesome, etc. Since I really don't know how to describe his goodness, I think I'm going to be picky and talk about the issues. His fully articulated fingers can't really hold all the weapons (same like MG Sazabi), the weapons are all using the peg holes to connect to his palm and then fold the fingers to hold them. Sounds good but they are not that easily done. Attaching weapons at Blast Off, sometimes can cause his legs (forearm) to
split. At Vortex, the forearm (two additional parts combined) can sometimes detach from his legs since they don't attach that tight. Then the dual cannon backpack. It only use two pegs to attach to the two separate holes on his back. They don't attach that well either and can easily detach when storing weapons on the backpack. One last picky issue, the original figure is fun at swapping limbs around. Now after the upgrade, Blast Off can only swap with Vortex as right arm or left arm, Swindle can only
swap with Brawl as left leg or right leg. But like I said, these are just picky. Why not? He is so expensive.

Transformation: 10 - No need on Swindle to become leg. Blast Off and Vortex are both well thought on using hips as elbow joints. Plus all other parts. The figure is just so nice.
Fun: 10 - Purely fun, nothing more to say. Even though Swindle/Brawl can't swap with Blast Off/Vortex now.
Display: 10 - Purely beauty, nothing more to say.
Value: 8 - You can call me cheap, but $90 for this whole set still scares me. Not if he is that great, I probably will pass.
Overall: 10 - Purely great, nothing more to say. FP did a really, really good job on this.
