Honors Institute 2011

Omicron Lambda at Glendale CC and Alpha Eta Delta at South Mountain CC have had a busy summer planning an exciting Arizona Honors Institute!  Please join the host chapters and the Arizona Regional Board for a day and a half of workshops, general sessions and seminars on the Honors Study topic, “The Democratization of Information: Power, Peril and Promise”.

Top 10 Reasons to attend the Arizona Honors Institute:
10. Reconnect with old friends!
9. Make some new acquaintances!
8. Learn about new Phi Theta Kappa initiatives!
7. Refine your knowledge of Phi Theta Kappa programs through Friday afternoon workshops!
6. Hear great speakers!
5. Chat with the regional officers!
4. Dialogue in seminar groups!
3. Meet the new advisers!
2. Celebrate the RED HOT Arizona Region!
1. Commit to complete while having fun along the journey!

Speakers are still being confirmed as many members and advisors were off enjoying the summer.  Friday will consist of workshops, regional and international representative reports, dinner with a great speaker.  Reconvene on Saturday for two more speakers, followed by seminar groups, and a Town Hall.

A special note: There has been a big turnover in advisors and a well understood reluctance on the part of new advisors to take on the hosting of a regional meeting.  For this reason,  both of the regional meetings will be in the Phoenix area for the first time in many, many years.  (The spring Regional Convention will be held at Mesa CC.)  With the tightening of college budgets, travel subsidies for chapters are becoming scarce.  The Maricopa chapters will NOT have to travel and, consequently, have agreed to pay a slightly higher registration fee per person to assist those chapters from the south and north who will incur hotel and gas expenses.  We truly hope that this will be an incentive for the “out of Maricopa” chapters to attend!

The registration form now requires you to register each advisor or member individually.  We are using a free registration software that has this limitation.  You will receive ONE  invoice after registration closes.

I look forward to seeing all of you at Glendale Community College on September 30.  Program updates will be sent as appropriate.
