About Mr. Protsman

This is my old page please visit tiny.cc/prots for current information.

My Name is John Protsman. I've taught mathematics since the fall of 2000 at Adams City and Mountain Range HS.  I got my start in teaching as a student assistant to my high school math teacher, Mr. Hamaii.  He noticed that the subs rarely are math knowledgeable and asked if I'd teach a lesson for him, I've been hooked ever since.

My Parents met in South Korea, where my dad was stationed at Kimpo during part of his career in the Air Force. They married in 1971, my sister was born in '72 and I came along in '77. I grew up in District 12 attending Tarver, Westlake and Horizon. I got married in March 2006 to Stephanie and in May 2007 we had our first girl, Saphira. In May 2009 we had our first boy, Caleb. Recently my 2nd son, Lucas Paul-Walter was born Feb 2011.  I love being a father and spending time with my family.

After graduating high school in 1995, I attended Front Range Community College earning my associates in 1997 when I transferred to the University of Northern Colorado.  I was apart of a Greek fraternity, Delta Tau Delta, where one of our community service programs was reading to elementary students.  Also, I was apart of the intercollegiate athletic program as a cheerleader and got to cheer at UNC's 2nd National Championship Football game in Alabama.  I graduated from UNC (BA in Math Ed) and started teaching HS in 2000. Next I earned my Masters (Educational Technology) in 2007.
