This website has been put together to alert the public and keep them informed during the application process of a development near the Lillico Beach Conservation Area, a few kilometres west of Devonport.

Within a few months we expect this site to become home to lots of info about the Lillico Beach Conservation Area and the planned extension through to Don Heads. It's a great two hour walk. Try it sometime; or just take our tour via the Coastal Walk link on the left.

In very brief summary, there are three main grounds for objecting to the new proposal:

1.    The proximity of the development to penguin burrows;
2.    The detraction such a development would impose on the            natural surroundings;
3.    The proximity of the development to the Lillico Beach            Conservation area.

The Planner has released a report which says the proposal should be rejected, but a Council meeting approved it with restrictions. The report is very extensive and recommends opposing the development on lots of grounds. It would be an excellent guide for any groups – or individuals – opposing coastal development.

21/04/07: Planning Permit Application in Advocate
01/05/07: Protests start on site.
05/05/07: Deadline for objections
05/05/07: Front page of The Advocate.18/05/07: Planner releases his report.
21/05/07: Council
approves the proposal, against the Planner's advice, with restrictions.

An appeal has be lodged by the TCT. The hearing is in Devonport at the Council Offices (check with them), on Tuesday 18th September 2007, starting at 11 am.
