Scott Sanders, Outings leader for GA Sierra Club visited Hurricane Creek Wildlife Preserve July 1, 2010 and walked all its trails for two hours:

Dear Editor:

Hurricane creek should be protected because it's so beautiful and has
lots of wetlands on it.  The other side of the river has been cleared,
and I wonder what we lost.  I am not against logging or tree farming.
I just believe there is a better location to harvest trees than next
to Hurricane creek and the Etowah river.

Anyone who feels strongly that this area should be logged should be
required to bring their family and walk the trails, then discuss it
with them.  It's too valuable to harvest.  We should preserve and
protect this opportunity before it's destroyed.

Can't we find a better location to carry on logging operations?  There
must be better sites.
