Why get an appraisal? aka: Real Property Appraisal
Note, if you are talking to a mortgage broker, or bank for a mortgage, line of credit, or personal loan, (new or to increase an existing product), and they advise they need an appraisal of your property, there's a very good chance, they already have an appraiser lined up to do the job. Save yourself some time and money, ask your broker or lender if they already have an appraiser in mind. If yes, then you don't need to call me, as you'd spend money on an appraisal your lender might not use. All that is left to do, is to negotiate with your mortgage broker and/or lender on who is going to pay for the appraisal.

Don has 20 years in and around the insurance industry, 15 of those years in the property & casualty insurance business, (home, auto, commercial) as a front line underwriter / sales rep, manager, and director of large teams for some of Canada's top property & casualty insurance companies and brokerage firms, based in Edmonton, Calgary, Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario and Toronto. 13 of those 20 years has been as a manager or director, responsible for delivering on business plans, both revenue and cost control. Don has managed teams of up to 45 university educated insurance professionals at a time, delivering up to $8 million a year in revenue to his employer with the teams he managed. Don has extensive experience in personal home insurance and commercial properties, and over those 15 years, has underwritten or given oversight to, the underwriting of thousands of properties representing millions of dollars in premium volume, covering properties across Western Canada, the North, and in Ontario. Part of an appraiser's job is to start by figuring out what improvements cost to build, brand new. Don's insurance industry experience lends itself well to that part of the job, and to all of the analysis that is required in a credible result appraisal. Don is currently a Candidate Member with CNAREA and his work is reviewed & signed off upon by Rhonda George. Don is a graduate of Augustana University College in Camrose, Alberta (now part of of the University of Alberta) with a BA in history - 1990.
