The Summer Program
The Mount Sinai International Exchange Program for Minority Students invites current undergraduate, master and doctoral degree students or recent graduates to participate in an exciting and unique international exchange program. Interns will work on research projects under the guidance of prominent international scientists in one of six countries in Latin America, Europe or Africa. Before interns travel to their assigned countries, they receive one week of Orientation at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. Eligibility Criteria ¨ Minorities underrepresented in the sciences: African Americans, Hispanic/ Latinos, Native Americans, Alaskan Natives, Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, and Rural Appalachians. No exceptions will be made . ¨U.S. citizens, non-citizen nationals or permanent residents. ¨ Enrolled in or recently graduated from BA, BS, MA, MPH, PhD, MD or other Master's or doctoral programs. ¨ Available to travel for 10-12 full consecutive weeks to the program. ¨ Required to write a research report. ¨Have a 3.0 cumulative GPA in current institution. ¨Available for Orientation Week in New York City during June 4-8, 2012. Benefits ¨ Round trip and housing expenses to attend Orientation Week in New York City and for travel to/ lodging in host country. ¨ Emergency health insurance while in host country. ¨ Monthly stipend of between $1,000 - $1,900, depending on level of education attained.
