Motors/ESC's  If you are looking to get a new motor or ESC, there are several options, but the best ones out there are the Castle Creations ESC and/or motor. They make some of the best (if not the best) ESC's out there. The cool thing with the Castle ESC's is that you can program them on your computer, unlike the Traxxas ESC's. If you are on a tight budget or just want to save some money you could look into getting some of your electronics from HobbyKing. They make some great stuff, the EZ-Run ESC's are great, if you do a search on HobbyKing for "Reverse", you will find all of the ESC's that will run a Motor Backwards (basically a Car ESC). Be sure to read the Reviews before you buy, and make sure the ESC you choose is capable of running the motor you want (usually a 60a+ ESC). The other thing you should be prepared for is that you might have to solder on a Traxxas connector and/or change out the bullet connectors to make things work with your setup Castle Creations Site Mamba Max Pro ESC $124.95 Sidewinder ESC $69.95 Some other great motors I would recommend are the Tacon motors, they are DIRT cheap at $25 a piece, and are comparable in power to the stock VXL motor. They are supposed to have a mote linear throttle curve than the VXL (smoother): Tacon Motors $24.70  This is the best ESC for the price yo will find anywhere, and works with any sensor-less motor and has a verity of programming features. I know several people who use them and they only get up to around 110F after a 10min heat running a VXL motor on 2s: HobbyKing 60a ESC's $39.99 Transmitters As for 2.4Ghz transmitters and receivers, get the GT-2 from HobbyKing, it's incredible for the price, I actually prefer it to my $70 Tower 2.4 system, and it's only $15+$20 shipping. Tower also makes a good system for the price (  HK GT-2 $15.99 Tower 2.4 $79.99 Spektrum Site $150-400 GT-3 $35 Other Gyro's are a lot of fun, they help stabilize your truck during turns, and if you like to drift around corners, now you will be able to. The best one for the price is the E-Sky EK2-0704. There are some other more expensive ones out there as well, but I can not recommend any of them because I don't know much about them, and I have heard they are not a whole lot better than this one: E-Sky Gyro $5-10 |
