Ever hear of the term ‘The Apathetic Generation’?

Constantly I hear people discussing how apathetic our society, especially youth, have become.
The world is in crisis and no one is paying attention. It is a constant message being thrown in our faces: we need to care more, give more, spend more. There are so many global issues screaming out to us, and it becomes impossible to respond to all of them. As the winter approaches we will find ourselves caught up once again in the gloominess of the cold season.  However perhaps there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I suggest that this January we bring in the New Year with a creative edge. Take on the challenge and make our message known. Tell the students, the people that share and live in our community, how we really feel. What are your convictions, passions, dreams, and hopes for the future? Long term or simply short term? You are standing on the edge of a blank page that is yours to write your life upon, do not turn away the opportunity. Changing the world may not be as hard as you think… 


WHAT YOU CAN DO:

Your challenge is to create a you tube video, painting, song, or photo series either as an individual or with a group. Convince your floors to work together, or work  with your  friends!! Your projects should be the message you want to say to your fellow students on how you want to change the world. It should be entirely expressive of you, and about something you are passionate about. The submissions should be respectful of all groups of people, honest, and genuine. Registration, Project Submissions, questions or comments should be sent to slavine@uoguelph.ca 

 Projects  will be presented in The Bullring, in the evening on Tuesday January 22nd 2008.
