Hello! You may be familiar with National Public Radio's popular segment, "This I Believe," which features people from all walks of life who share their personal belief statements in the form of brief recorded essays.         
For my final project, I created a unit inviting my ninth-grade students to write and record their own "This I Believe" essays. 
 
This unit includes variations on materials that are available on the Internet. Drawing from both middle school and high school resources, I adapted activities according to what I thought my ninth-grade students would need in order to successfully complete the assignment.

Pioneer broadcaster Edward R. Murrow hosted the original "This I Believe" radio series from 1951-1955. His own essay, kicking off the series, can be heard on www.thisibelieve.org.
