Summary of 2011 - what we have been up to during 2011

It was with extreme sadness to learn that my dear friend Ann Holdway - Author of Kinesiology - The Wisdom Within, founder of Booklist and the InTouch Magazine - died suddenly on the 12th December 2011 - she will be missed so much and our thoughts are with her family at this time. I have some very happy memories of times spent with Ann and cannot imagine a world without her in it.  Ann's funerals took place on Friday 6th January 2012

Woodbridge Exhibition April 2011 - Bernie and Lisa manning the stand

For part of my Progressive Kinesiology Advanced students course this year we hired a stand at the Woodbridge Exhibition and oversaw the students working in a rota system over the two days. They took turns to man the stand and meet members of the public face to face. Over the two days they were very busy talking and working as a team, with at least three people on the stand at any one time. The aim was to gain hands on experience in a very real environment. It was a very successful and busy exhibition, organised brilliantly as usual by Chris Cozens and visited by many people. There were a good variety of stands and it was lovely to meet old and new faces and enjoy holistic 'networking' at its best. The live performances were entertaining and moving including enjoying listening to Lucinda from Bliss. We all had a wonderful time.

Beltane at Lauriston Farm in Essex

Beltane Day Beltane (1st May 2011) is one of the four Celtic fire festivals marking the quarter points in the year. In the past feasts were held and bonfires were lit throughout the countryside. Fire was believed to have purifying qualities - it cleansed and rejuvenated both the land and the people and represents the beginning of summer.  Beltane was a very important festival in the Celtic calendar. The name originates from the Celtic god, Bel - the 'bright one', and the Gaelic word 'teine' meaning fire, giving the name 'bealttainn', meaning 'bright fire'.

This is the beginning of the 'lighted half' of the year when the Sun begins to set later in the evening and the hawthorn blossoms. The hawthorn was to be respected in all its diversity and duality. It was (and still is) a symbol of union of opposites, and served as a message for us to be more accepting of the unconventional. To our ancestors Beltane was the coming of summer and fertility. Nature is in bloom and the earth is full of creativity and new life.
Lauristan Farm, Goldhanger

On visiting Lauriston Farm last year I decided to arrange with Biodynamic Farmer Spencer Christy to have a sharing day at his beautiful farm in Goldhanger, Essex. We chose the 1st May for its ancient properties and to give others the opportunity to experience a very special day in a totally unspoilt part of Essex . We were joined by some past and present students of the Progressive Kinesiology Academy with the main aim being to make flower remedies and enjoy the ambiance of this beautiful natural environment.

The day was glorious, the sun shone throughout and the sky was a cornflower blue and almost cloudless. 14 of us of us gathered together to spend the day attuning with the plants and choosing a plant, flower or item to create into our own personal remedy. While these were basking in the sun and infusing their blue print in special water, we had a fabulous shared lunch joined by Spencer and his family. After lunch we relaxed around a fire pit sitting on straw bales, just letting the stresses of life totally melt away and taking time away from the normal hustle and bustle of everyday.
Remedy making at Lauriston Farm - around the fire

We also enjoyed a tour of the farm, seeing some new born rare breed lambs and had a brisk windswept walk around the sea wall until returning to our remedies. These were then carefully bottled and thanks given to the earth for all its help. Our new remedies were then left to absorb the energy of the wood fire in an area of the farm where Spencer creates the Biodynamic remedies. Next year we hope to run a similar day so if anyone is interested in attending please do contact me at info@progressive-kinesiology.co.uk

Lauriston Farm also does special tours for groups of 6 and above which can be booked in advance. As well as growing their own vegetables they keep bee hives, chickens and rare breed cattle and sheep.
