The Interdisciplinary and Multicultural Institute (InstitutoInterdisciplinario y Multicultural) was created in 2002. Its primary goal is to promote international academic exchange, to offer a language curriculum for foreign students and a non-traditional interdisciplinary academic program which will not only be available during the regular class periods, but also during the summer. INIM is an independent unit of study that is ascribed to the Office of the Dean of the College of General Studies. INIM is a unique and innovative program that responds to the University of Puerto Rico's Systemic Strategic Plan, and emerges as a result of the necessity and the desire to provide Puerto Rican and Caribbean curriculum content and experiences from an international perspective. This is intended to fortify the students' exchange programs emphasizing the international programs available, and to establish a collaborative network with other universities, commerce and industry, and with local and foreign governmental agencies. |
