Quando la guerra finisce, per chi l'ha vissuta non esiste un interruttore da spegnere per poter ricominciare come se nulla fosse accaduto: ogni persona dovrà fare i conti con i traumi, piccoli o grandi che siano. Il ritorno in famiglia, se esiste ancora, genererà nuove dinamiche familiari e la ricerca di un nuovo equilibrio che non sempre si riesce a raggiungere. Crediamo che l'esperienza vissuta dai figli, sulle difficoltà della trasmissione delle esperienze da parte dei padri - sia che abbiano o meno raccontato (o abbiano potuto farlo) -, possa servire a capire come i traumi causati dalla guerra ricadano sulle nuove generazioni e che le conseguenze di un conflitto siano molto più lunghe ed articolate di quanto ci si possa aspettare.
When war over, for the people who have lived through it there is not a switch to turn off and start again from scratch, as if nothing happened. Everybody needs to face his/her small or big traumas. Coming back home, to a family if it still exists, will create new dynamics and the research for a new equilibrium, which is not always found. Usually the first reaction is to pretend nothing has happened and to keep quiet as if this could chase the "ghosts" of conscience away; yet an object or a situation is enough to evoke them back.
We believe the experience lived by our children, the difficulties in the passing on the experiences lived by the fathers - told or not told (or have had the possibility to do that) - could help to understand how the traumas caused by war will be paid by the new generations, and the consequences of a conflict are much longer than expected. Questo è l'obiettivo dell'indagine che condurremo con gli studenti delle scuole di Monzuno (provincia di Bologna), dove, utilizzando gli strumenti della ricerca storica, andremo a ricostruire i fatti e le biografie dei genitori coinvolti nella guerra. Ricordiamo che questo territorio fu interessato dalla più importante strage di civili in Italia ad opera dei tedeschi: Monte Sole (770 persone uccise dal 29 settembre al 5 ottobre 1944).
This is the purpose of the research with the students of the schools of Monzuno (Province of Bologna), where, using the tools of historical research, we will reconstruct the facts and biographies of parents involved in the war. Remember that this area was the scene of the largest massacre of civilians in Italy carried out by the Germans: Monte Sole (770 people killed from 29th September to 5th October 1944).
