What you’ll be able to do in Spanish this year: • Describe your daily routine • Ask and tell about where things are • Talk about past actions and events • Discuss summer & winter sports, games, and hobbies • Talk about the weather • Speak about movies, resorts, & cultural events in Spanish-speaking countries • Check in for a flight, get through an airport after deplaning, and travel by train • Make a reservation at a restaurant and courteously order food and drinks • Talk about computers, e-mails, faxes, internet, & phone calls in SS countries • Shop for clothing and food in SS countries GRADING: Students earn a conduct grade and a scholarship grade. 1. Courteous student behavior that allows for optimum learning in class is rewarded with an O. This includes how you handle your personal electronics, all responsibilities, your teamwork, punctuality, voluntary participation, make-up work and compliance with WL3 policies and rules. 2. Students earn their academic grade based on the quality of their performance in these six areas: Speaking, reading comprehension, listening comprehension, writing, vocabulary building and verb usage. If you miss class, you are responsible for finding out what you missed and make it up! Special WL3 policies beyond the WHHS Student Handbook: 1. Because the teacher focuses on your mouth, never chew gum. No food allowed, only bottled water. 2. Turn in your homework and projects on time for full credit. 1 day late =50% credit. 3. Your grades are weighted: • 35%=Final unit evaluations such as tests/projects & 10% Final Exam • 25%=Daily speaking and participation (both attendance and preparation are key requirements for an A) • 15%= Quizzes • 15%=Homework 4.
