San Francisco Bay Area songwriter, vocalist, guitarist and keyboard player Matthew Larkin Cassell.

Known for his original jazzy, soulful-pop recordings which are all limited edition/private press vinyl releases.

The 1977 LP “Pieces,” recorded in the SF Bay Area, has become highly collectible. The evocative track, “In My Life” is featured on Kon and Amir’s, ” Kings of Diggin’ ” (Rapster/K7, Germany & BBE, UK), and is a great example of MLC's unique songwriting style and funky back beat feel.

The complete catalogue of his early work is now available on the P–Vine/Blues Interactions label, Japan.These two limited-edition re-mastered, paper sleeve CDs include “Pieces” the 1978 EP “Matt The Cat” and the 7” 45 recording he made in 1980.

The original vinyl recordings were limited edition releases in the low hundreds. They are hard to find, even for the most dedicated collector.

The new Private Press 4 release is a 2 song 12” 33 1/3 rpm vinyl pressing of just 100 LPs. Two well crafted songs “The Meaning of it All,” and "Blind as Love Can Be,” are excellent studio recordings featuring Matthew on vocals, piano/B3, and guitar. Original session ace Jimmy Hobson (Celine Dion, Hall & Oates) is on the drums, and Marin County local Jack Sayers plays acoustic bass.

The legendary George Horn engineered the mastering and lacquering.

Each pressing by RTI is sweet and clean.

Adding a unique quality to each copy is Matthew Larkin Cassell's hand-painted jacket. Each label is autographed, stamped, numbered by the artist and has hand-painted song titles on the disc.
