About Me:
I was born in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, moved to Georgia eleven years later, and high tailed it out of there after high school to attend Southern Methodist University. My mom's mom and step-dad raised me since I was two, so you'll see and read a lot about them.
My grandmother has even offered to raise my bambino. One of my many reasons for saying "no", besides the obvious, is shown very well here:

About DH:
DH was born and raised in Texas, but he is definitely NOT a cowboy. He grew up with his parents, younger brother, and various dogs.

Some More About Us:
I was studying psychology and international studies while DH was studying history and creative writing also at SMU. We met while working at The Disney Store in NorthPark Center. We have had a very enjoyable marriage thus far. We went to Disney World for our honeymoon, and have returned several times on family vacations with his parents and brother, and have enjoyed sights between Aruba and Alaska with my grandparents. We have had the opportunity to travel to New York together, part business, part pleasure (visit the page Family Fun for photos). While he still enjoys his job at the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, I left Gymboree to pursue a teaching certificate (with a brief stint at BridesMart), but then decided to go into the museum field myself and worked at Old Red Museum of Dallas County History & Culture, so we were mere feet from each other even while working, which was wonderful while I was pregnant - DH drove, I slept. I know stay home with our daughter. We lived in a two bedroom apartment for a few years, then moved into a three bedroom house complete with our own pool, which made it really easy to introduce the bambina to water and swimming when spring hit (if you believe we even have that season in Dallas). She is a natural born swimmer, already kicking and moving her arms in the water.

Here is my FIL, GMIL, MIL, BIL, DH, GM, GP, me,
and unbeknownst to us at the time, a new family member is growing inside,
at my thirtieth birthday party.

DH's favorite Disney movie is "Alice in Wonderland" and his favorite character is the Cheshire Cat.
They have always had dogs, but in July of 2001, DH's family surprised him with tabby kitten. Cheshire is an intelligent cat...most of the time. He understands which room is his, when it's time for him to go to his room, especially for bed, and that he's not allowed in the kitchen. This said, he does not always obey (come on, he's a cat -
), and he was hesitant going to his new room now as he has to go through part of the kitchen to get to it. He has also found ways to open cabinets (but can't get back out), turn door knobs, and even escape his caged in room. He is typically not an affectionate cat, although this changes after we return from vacation. When he does want you to pet/scratch him, becareful, because when he's satisfied you'll be bit if you don't watch out. Unfortunately, he's more of a scaredy cat than an attack cat, though, unless it's a reptile that has found its way into the house - then he'll stalk it. He has become a watch cat as of late. One day I was in the den and heard him making a bunch of noise and found him eyeing the front door - there was a package waiting outside. While pregant, he would paw my stomach and purr - he's never been more affectionate.

How has Cheshire adjusted to DD? My GM was worried that Cheshire would bite, scratch, or in some other manner hurt DD. He has sniffed her a few times, but for the most part leaves her alone, especially if she's crying. DH and I have both helped her pet him now, and Cheshire has no problems with it (knock-on-wood). (A few months later...) DD's pulled various parts of Cheshire a few times, so fortunately he just walks away from her, especially now that he's her motivation for crawling. (In 2009, DD learned to run after Chesh.)
