My BLOG...

July 12th - On one of these pages, I wrote that the more you stay away from a particular food that gives you trouble, when you do have it, your body will let you know... Well, I've always had trouble sleeping after caffeine and learned ages ago to not drink coffee, cola after a certain time... well! it's like how much caffeine can there be in chocolate? too much apparently! Paul and Michelle made a sugar free chocolate mousse and yes it was delicious! but I was up all night.... arghhhh. and the two culprits who made it - slept like babies... NOT FAIR.

July 13th - I ran into a dear child yesterday, a sweet girl of 6. She has psoriasis all over her body. Her parents, doing what good parents do, turned to the doctors for treatment. They, doing what doctors do, precribed one thing after another. This poor dear has blisters and chafing all over her body. What they could do is treat her for yeast. This little girls immune system is so compromised - her body is crying out for help! Heal from within - she needs alkaline foods, antifungals, probiotics and the healing waters of the sea. They of course have to change her diet - eliminate sugar, wheat and dairy. Perhaps no red meat for abit. Increase water, stop all soda and juice.  Hard to do with a 6 year old - but I asked her if she could stop drinking root beer for two weeks, she thought about it and said, yes I can do that!  She's a trooper with smiling eyes that melt your heart.

July 16th - Michelle and I were on Duke and the Doctor - a wonderful radio talk show about natural health. They are funny, loving, and teaching all the time! Just a joy to listen to. We called to ask about Michelle's vision (she sees spots) and Dr. McBarron was wonderful! Anyway - we're on at the end of the program, but honestly, the whole thing is worth listening to!

July 20th - spent a couple days at the beach! It is so healing! Do you know the alkaline waters of the sea are approximately the same ph as the liquid in a mothers' pregnant belly? Isn't that amazing? The waters of the sea are extremely healing, helping to heal wounds and skin conditions. (by the same token, one with skin conditions would not want to get in a chorinated pool...) It's summer! Enjoy the beach as often as you can!!!

OMG. I can't believe what I ate tonight. Due to some guests coming over (my lame excuse) I ate some potato chips - which I've not had in.. 2 years? and wouldn't you know, I had to have a beer (which I've not had in.. like 2 years!)  It's like there's something in the chips that told my brain - get a beer. NOW.
Ok, two cleansing drinks for me tomorrow! Should have one now!

August 1st - How time flies... with a team of wonderful volunteers I am organizing the 2nd annual "Cruising to A Cure" to be held on November 9th,2008!  The money we raise goes 100% to pediatric cancer research done here in Tampa by a wonderful group of research scientists, doctors and technicians! It is so exciting to be involved in what they are doing! They are working on a vaccine for cancer!! Yes, yes, I hate vaccines - but one for cancer? truly, I don't know what to think!?!! and be still my heart - they are working on the causes of cancer! Imagine that! They are injecting healthy cells with bacteria and viruses hoping to grow cancer.. the theory is if one can create it, one can understand it, and then one can stop it... How about that! For more info, please visit www.CruisingtoACure.com

Aug. 6th - My my, Shame on me. My daughter decided to have an end of summer party and invited quite a few friends over for the afternoon. Lovely idea! but these are kids that don't eat like we do... without even thinking, I bought soda and chips and these already prepared foods - you know, just heat them up and voila!
oh! now I am just besides myself. I had a perfect opportunity to share our good food but I took the easy way out. They no doubt would have rolled their eyes and never come back but still.. I could have tried...  we did have veggies...  yeah! my saving grace - we had veggies!! and they ate them!!

Aug. 7th - I was asked today how I keep my nails so long and strong. I used to have awful nails, for awhile I even had them 'done'  every two weeks cuz they were so bad... I don't even get close to nail polish now (yes, (eye  roll) it's toxic.)  My stock response was - oh! I take my vitamins! But I quickly corrected myself because upon thinking on it for a moment, I don't take my vitamins regularly - in fact, I'm pretty bad at it. What I am good at though, is what I eat. I do eat well and I guess it shows in my nails!
Aug. 21 - My dad was in the hospital, is now in rehab. Things are really tough. He's not a happy papa. I hate the system. We want to bring him home but I am afraid to. I don't have the skills or wherewithal to accomplish for him what he needs.. An excuse? probably.. but a valid concern, yes.  He was a "healthy" man, ate well, exercised, a very disciplined gentleman. Yet, I know now, he did not eat well, because he ate wheat - which caused a lifetime of health issues for him, which of course, got worse with age. He is 84. He suffers from various yeast related illnesses - and there is really nothing to do about it now. Should I really blame the 'system'. Yeah, I think I can, 'it' tells us eat this, eat that (Monsanto), take these meds, now take those (big pharma). and then when your body can't function anymore, you go to a nursing home where 'it' (Medicare) dictates everything.

November 4th - I did it! This weekend I finished my course work! I am now a Certified Natural Health Professional!!! Yeah!!!!
Nov. 25th - Cruising To A Cure was a success!! A wonderful success! We sold out, the event went beautifully and we raised $25k for exciting, ground-breaking pediatric cancer research!!!! How cool is that?

But I am exhausted, between Cruising and my parents situation, I am a mess... I went "off" my diet after Cruising and have not managed to get back to it for more than 3 days since... this is awful... I am hosting the family here for Thanksgiving and with all these tempting foods - I want to scream!!! Yes, I am eating all that I'm not supposed to....

April 28 - How easy it is to get out of a habit... Reading my last entry.. it's so foreign to me, I can't believe I wrote that! The holidays came and went (happily so I might add!) We've traveled, Easter came and went (even better!) We are all on our "diet" and doing well! Paul has made a lot of improvement over the past few months and I learned that I am NOT a carnivore! What a total shock!! So I am adjusting by reducing meat little by little. I do eat fish but apparently even fish 'slows me down'... I managed two weeks of just veggies and yup, my body liked it. But my taste buds and habits don't!!!
I just updated the home page with simple suggestions for getting through this swine flu thing. I wish you all health and happiness and till next time!!
