How sweet it is! To read such articles in the mainstream media and by such a 'mainstream' person no less. The following is written by the former chief of the FDA! If only he had had this awakening while still the chief!!!  Don't skip the links at the bottom of most sections (in blue). Happy Eating!

Ayyye! Check it out, but not for the faint of heart - especially if not commited to buying natural/organic... scary stuff... scary.

Fat, Carbs, and the Science of Conception - very long but worthwhile read - especially if you're thinking about having a bambino!

This is some scary stuff, especially when one can possibly avoid asthma by avoiding certain foods - such as milk and wheat.

A New Diet Villain  Good Grief! Why must a person interject their personal opinion as fact in an article like this? There is much good info in this piece yet the author titles it negatively and finishes with an unnecessary slam. Disregard her bias and it's a good piece!!
My personal opinion?! Life is SO much better without gluten!!!! No doubt about it!

Wonderful resource!

In a side chart w/ this article is a piece titled "The vaccination controversy - Sceptics say and Scientists say."   I would link it but can't find it on the St. Pete Times site... what I found most interesting is this:
Sceptics say:
So survey a group of vaccinated children and a group who aren't because their parents refuse. Generation Rescue surveryed more than 17,000 children in Oregon and California, including nearly 1,000 described as completely unvaccinated. Among boys age 4 to 17, those vaccinated were 61% more likely to have autism and 224% (not a typo) more likely to have ADHD.
Scientists say:
Doing a survey sounds feasible but unvaccinated groups are often distinct enough that they have other differences from the general poplution, so valid comparisons are hard. (yes, cause we live on another planet) For instance, unvaccinated children might have little contact w/ the health system and be less likely to be diagnosed with autism. It's a problem similar to the famous studies on hormone replacement therapy, where earlier researchers didn't realize the women choosing to take hormones had different health habits from those choosing not to, skewing the results... (sound alot like bait and switch to you.?  and we all know the real results of the HRT studies now!!  In the previous bullet the scientists say they won't perform the study under established guidelines because it's unethical.   OK.. and continuing on the present course is?)
My personal thoughts - it is the number of vaccines and frequency in which they are given that harm the children. We are destroying our babies immune systems by bombarding them with an unnecessary number of vaccines. Granted mercury surely played a part in increasing autism, but since eliminating mercury from most vaccines as of 2001, the number of vaccines and the number of shots a baby gets has increased.

Stevia—Good, Bad, or Indifferent? - First article I've read to write negatively about stevia... I'm very surprised. This site is new to me, but I like most of what this nutritionist has to say... something to think about...

The Body's Traffic Cop   Prima's comment: A very valuable read - nicely written but I disagree with some of what they say...
Conventional medicine says it doesn't know why we get this. Natural (aka Traditional) medicine believes the cause of this is food related. Poor food and poor digestion. Remember? It's all about nutrition!   When food is not digested, your body is not well nourished, when not nourished, your immune system suffers, then things break - in this case, ever so slowly.  Thyroid disorders, RA, and lupus, as mentioned in the article are known as auto-immune diseases. Symptoms could be significantly relieved by following a yeast free and gluten free diet, and taking natural supplements. The body really does not want an unending supply of synthetic thyroid hormones.

The number of Americans with diabetes has grown to about 24 million people, or roughly 8 percent of the U.S. population. A report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, based on data from 2007, indicates an increase of about 3 million cases since over just two years. The CDC estimates another 57 million people have a condition called pre-diabetes, which puts people at increased risk for the disease.
Prima's comment: This is directly related to our over consumption of sugar, and carbohydrates which quickly convert to sugars as well as nutritional and digestive deficiencies.

Healthy Diets Shown to Have Benefit Despite Modest Weight Losses  Prima's comment: I can imagine drastically different results if they elimated gluten and yeast. Maybe soon, they will try!

Are you drinking Milk? Prima's comment: Watch a revealing documentary prepared for but not aired by Fox TV.

Splenda: Not so splendid: (in short health news on right of page)   Excerpt:  "Splenda, for example, contains the following: acetic acid, benzene, ethyl alcohol, formaldehyde, lithium chloride, methanol, and thionyl chloride, just to name a few. Of course, the FDA does not require that any of these ingredients be listed on the product container as long as they only make up 2% or less of the total product makeup."

8-Year-Olds on Statins? A New Plan Quickly Bites Back  Prima's comment: Statins essentially paralyze the liver. And they want children on it? Fortunately some doctors are seeing the madness..      When will we realize... It's all about the food.

Are Some People Mosquito Magnets?  Prima's comment: If you are a 'mosquito magnet,' you may be deficient in the B vitamins. Try a B complex for at least two weeks and mosquitos may be flying right by!

My personal rant on Gardisil... Ok, I'll just let the articles do it. But please, please think twice, three times, do the research to make an informed decision...

Information from CDC and FDA on the Safety of Gardasil Vaccine

"As of June 30, 2008, there have been 9,749 VAERS reports of adverse events following Gardasil vaccination. Of these, 94% were classified as reports of non-serious events, and 6% as serious events." Prima's comment: I know, I can be such a cynic sometimes but I just can't help but wonder how many adverse events were reported to doctors who dismissed them and didn't report to VAERS?

Should parents worry about HPV vaccine?

"Despite the complaints, the FDA said it is only concerned about dizziness as a side effect immediately after the administration of the drug. FDA spokeswoman Karen Riley downplayed the miscarriages, saying that girls should have taken the drug before becoming sexually active, not after.

"If you're pregnant, then it means you've been sexually active," she said. "So it would be somewhat dubious to get a vaccine you're supposed to have before you're sexually active."
Prima's comment: I sincerely hope this woman has been fired.

My personal rant on smokers who litter would go on for a mile, so - with great help from Lio... the message is clear.
