| Section 3 Well, you survived the introduction. Now let's add the Canadian Brand Name drugs. The brand name drugs sold in Canada and in the United States share most characteristics. They, generally have the same brand name and look. The price, well, heaven only knows that one.
Supposedly, Canadians pay more for their generic drugs than those in the States. I just find that hard to believe. In the good ol' USA, we pay the most for the least always. But enough with price.
Please review the lists to the left. As you can easily see, almost all the brand name drugs share the carefully marketed BRAND NAME from Madison Avenue.
But, is Lotrisone the same thing as Lotriderm? How about Clarinex and Aerius? How about Mobic and Mobicox?
And it continues. Is ZIAC actually MONOCOR? Is Aventyl actually Pamelor? Is Ventolin really Salvent? Is Minocin Dynacin? Is Bonamine Antivert?
Is Ambien really Stilnoct or is it Zolpidem? Can Aciphex really be Pariet?
As for Lomotil, Lomotil is NOT Lomotil. In the USA, Lomotil is diphenoxylate / atropine sulfate. And in Canada and Mexico, Lomotil is Loperamide.
Confused yet? I am!
Remember, prior to the big move, get your medical records in order. Have your physician write new prescriptions for you. Have your pharmacist print out your drug profile.
Now, make a copy of these documents, store a copy with very important papers, and keep a folder with your working copy handy for trips to the doctor and to the farmacia. Your folder is often called a "SHADOW Chart". It is there when someone just accidently can't find your chart. Start your "Chart" now, it can save time, and your life.
In Mexico, for the most part, YOU are responsible for YOU! Do your part, keep good records. It is your life we are talking about!
Farmacias are located in most communities.
Prescriptions in Canada and the States are usually packed in Rx vials and labeled individually.
The drugs are packed in drug specific packs with a small number of doses. This is due to the drug distribution system of Mexico and the limited number of farmacists / pharmacists.
Read the label well. Even though in Spanish, MOST words are easily made out. You can also check this site for manufacturer drug specific information.
We can move on now and add the Mexican Brand name drugs to our list. And now, the problem is that in Mexico, there are many 'brand' names. In our list, the number of 'brand' names runs from one (1) to seventy - five (75). There is an average of six (6) names for each drug. Now, that can be confusing!
After the addition of the Mexican Brand name drugs, we will add the Generic drugs of Mexico and also of Canada & the USA. At that point, you can click thru to see a list of the other Brand names you may find in Mexico.
But first, to the Mexican Brand name drugs added to the list of US and Canadian drugs on the next page.....
