Infrared Thermal lmaging is a non-destructive method to look for multiple unwanted conditions in a building. So what kind of items can a Thermal Imaging Camera help me with??
- Moisture Intrusion--Moisture equals mold, moisture intruding your home will show up as cool areas. Once we identify these cool areas we can further evaluate the condition with one of our moisture meters and determine if we truly have a moisture condition. If there is moisture present we can then attempt to determine the source and make recommendations to remidy the situation.
- Air Intrusion--Is your home drafty, do you not get heat out of all your heating ducts?? The cameral allows us to see areas where you home is "leaking air", this is often times around doors or windows. Often times we find heating/cooling ducts that aren't properly sealed; you could be heating or cooling your attic or crawlspace areas, talk about wasting energy. One of the number one ways to save on energy bills is to seal your house up, we can identify areas to focus on.
- Missing or Damaged Insulation--Are you walls insulated completely? Is your roof missing some insulation? We can use the camera to compare the surface tempuratures and identify areas that are missing insualtion. This is especially helpful when the wall area is sealed and you can't see inside it, this also works good for vaulted ceilings.
- Home Energy Audit--Did you know the average home over 15 years old can save 25% of their energy bills? With our Home TuneUp home energy audit program and a thermal imaging inspection we can really focus your attention in areas that will really help you save energy and improve your homes efficiency.
- Loose or Damage Electrical--Through the eye of the Thermal Imaging Camera we can inspect components of your electrical system to identify areas of excessive heat. Loose or damaged electrical connections cause extra heat, the camera measures this and allows us to further investigate the condition. Often times an electrical contractor is recommended to further evaluate the situation and make the necessary reparis.
- Pest Nest--When termites or carpenter ants nest in your home there are a couple of things that happen, they create heat and they hollow out the wood. The camera can often times see the differences in the structural lumber and give us areas to further investigate.
The Infrared Thermal Imaging Camera allows us to scan a large area in a very short amount of time. It allows the inspector to see things that you can't see with your naked eyes. The Thermal Imaging camera takes a picture of the surface temerature of the items, everything on earth has heat radiating from it. Areas that are moist show as being cool due to evaporative cooling. When its winter time and you feel a draft, we can see where the warm air is excaping and the cool are is comming into the home. Loose or damaged electrical circuts show up as extra heat. In the mater of minutes we can scan a large area and identify areas to further investigate.
The uses of a Thermal Imaging Camera are endless. We woudl love to experiment with any ideas you may have about the uses of our thermal imaging camera.
Robert has when through extensive training on the proper use of the Thermal Imaging Camera. There is more than just the operation of the camera, the true skill is to know what you are really looking at. This really a science.
